I feel like I'm about 17 and 1/2 years old when I wear these bibs. Why? Because I was around when bibs were cool the first time. I wore a pair of blue denim bibs with a light blue and brown round-neck polyester top in one of my grad photos. Man I loved those things. And the grad picture I wore them in is still one of my favorites to this day. Am I recalling correctly that there was a hay bale in the background of that photo...? Nevertheless, bibs rocked my world then and they're rocking it now. And speaking of rockers; someday, when I'm old and grey (but still following fashion) I will rock bibs again in my rocking chair.
So, since these are the 'now' version of bibs, I thought it safe to wear them with my 90's holographic chunky heel sandals. Underneath is my pop o' pink stretchy tank top. Bibs, be still my heart. Huggles!

Oh my! It's My Little Pony! That is exactly what I thought when I ran into this pony sweater at H&M earlier this year. Are those...ponies? Are those indeed the pretty little ponies that I played with as a young little lass? They are!! The timing is pretty incredible as just a few weeks ago I came across my collection of My Little Pony (pictured above) at my mom and dad's house. I can't tell you how happy I am that this sweater exists. I wear it a LOT. Really a lOT. And I get knowing glances and nods from girls (ok, women) around my age when I wear it. Yes. My Little Pony is still getting the respect it so deserves.

Cinderella...dressed in yella, something-something, and her fella. I don't remember that childhood chant from my own childhood. Well, I barely remember the words at all and it's only from watching The Brady Bunch Movie that I even know the first few words of it. I have a point. It is that this outfit is entirely built around this fun, geometric YELLOW tank I recently purchased at a swanky lil' shop called The Goodwill in Minnetonka. Ok, it's just called Goodwill there. But it is a 'higher-end' G-Dubs and I totally scored there a few weeks ago. Party dresses, brand new flats, pretty satin hangers.
I had a little Spring Into Summer party last weekend and it was surprisingly HOT out! What a perfect chance to bust out my new top. Slightly billowy, very airy, and boatloads of fun to wear. There's something so happy about yellow. I added my cute little fedora, black cheeky shorts (hopefully not TOO cheeky...) and my Minnetonka Moccasin booties. How clever to pair up Minnetonka Moccasins with my Minnetonka tank! This is blowing me away right now! Or perhaps it's just the summer wind on my billowy top.

I hit the town last night. I wish I could say that I hit the big glamorous city but, where I live, I would have to travel about 4 hours to get there. So I will just be glad that there is at least a town somewhat near by that has restaurants in which I can wear cute outfits to. I wish this photo showed more of the silver sparkles that this top has to offer. I worry that the color-enhancing filter I used has muddled my sparkles a bit! And, sorry for the filter. I only used it to pump up the green of the grass, as it is only early May, and I thought that the grass could use a little help in the color department. Enough! On to the outfit. This little top is from H&M, bought this year. The jeans are from my local Goodwill. Go G-Dubs! My heels were purchased in 2009. The hot pink beaded necklace is from Salvation Army and I LOVE it. And, last but not least, the black sequined bag is from...I don't remember! Oops. But I do remember that I paid $8 for it. I felt darn cute in this outfit. It was the perfect thing to wear on a humid but slightly cool May evening.

I've been Pinspired! Leave it to Pinterest to present hundreds of ways to organize your jewelry, namely, your long necklaces that desperately need a home. While perusing Pinterest, I saw a beautiful collection of deer sheds clustered together and painted in bright, happy colors being used as a jewelry organizer and I thought, "Wait a second! I've seen these antler-type thingies in my husband's workshop in the garage..." I showed him the photo on Pinterest, we grabbed some paint and primer and a drill and got to work. Drilling tiny holes into bones isn't exactly my bag so I let my husband take care of that. I then sanded them down a bit and gave them 3 coats of white paint and primer. The trim in our bedroom is white so I chose to repeat that in my project. Then we connected all the pieces and hung my new necklace display on the wall. I love it! Not only does it give all my long necklaces a home and prevent them from getting tangled up, it looks like a sparkly work of art. A fun combo of nature's found objects and girly glam.

Being pregnant has certainly changed some of my tastes, like loving mustard but turning my nose up at apples (that was during the first trimester--I do eat apples again.) But one taste that remains in tact is my love of hearts! I'm so happy that this grey comfy heart sweater still fits. Sure, it's being stretched a little but it seems to spring back to shape when I take it off.
Here's a not-pregnant photo of me wearing the heart sweater and faux fur vest and now, with the little cupcake in my oven. Still soft, heart-y, and furry!
This sweater has served me well! Thank you Target, from the bottom of my heart. :)

I've done it. I didn't want to do it. But I had to do it. That's right--I gave in and bought an actual maternity top. I'm still wearing most of my non-pregnant clothes but there are days when I want to wear a shirt that I don't have to get creative with, adjust to fit the belly, or layer to get 'just right.' This maternity top is blissfully easy! A no-brainer! And it's still fun to wear. And, it happens to match my new black and white glasses perfectly, making it even more fun to wear. :)

My baby belly and I had a 3+ hour car ride this past Saturday and I needed something to wear that was comfortable and cute. Enter my trusty 3-dollar dress from TJ Maxx! This little number is always here for me, come Fall. It's warm, stretchy, snug but not tight, and has fun dark green and black stripes. And the best part of all is that it fits my pregnant body!
The photo on the right was taken almost exactly 1 year ago. As you can see I had added a black vest and was wearing different boots. I do believe I prefer how it looked this time around: no vest, sweater leggings, and cowboy boots instead of the gold-studded boots. But no matter how I accessorize this dress, it is always 100% comfortable. :)

Meow! I'm feeling catty today--kitty catty that is! I picked this blue tee up at Target and instantly fell in love with the glasses-wearing cat on the front. It wasn't until I tried it on and found that my baby bump popping underneath the shirt made the kitty's face 3D, and that I was head over heels in love! Sweet! And sold! The only thing missing from this outfit are my new black cat-eye glasses, which arrived a couple days after this photo was taken. Next time! :)

Sand and gold are the star colors of today's outfit. This ensemble is great for days like today when I want to look put together yet not 'stand out.' What better color for not standing out than good ol' sand! In truth, I think the bling is what makes this look sing. Without it, I really would not wear this outfit. Just too safe for me.
Behold! The sparkly doughnut of wonder necklace, the blingy neutral beaded bracelet, and the wide beaded band bracelet.
Ah ha! That's where my feet are! You can't see them very well but I have on my gold sandals. Just enough sparkle on the feet to round out the gold accents from the accessories. :) And speaking of round, Baby Girlie in my belly is all about standing out. ;)

Yay! This outfit is all about the tiny details. I LOVE matching my nail polish to an accessory (or accessories.) And the best part about these earrings and their sparkly teal counterpart? They were majorly inexpensive! I was browsing the nail polish section when I came upon this teal glittery polish. It jumped into my cart.
Then, I was casually strolling through the accessory department when I saw these teal sparkly hoop earrings! They were begging to come home with me and wanted to be paired with the matching polish. I couldn't resist! The polish was about 2 dollars and the earrings were on clearance for $3. So I went home with a $5-dollar outfit-sprucer-upper! You can't see it in the first pic, but the teal polish and earrings match the teal stripe in the rainbow on my Pink Floyd sweatshirt. Fun!
Cheap thrills a la teal sparkles! :)

Everything is better with sparkles! Especially a skirt that you desperately need your pregnant belly to fit into for an August wedding you are going to attend. Thank goodness this bad boy has an elastic waist! It fit nice n' snug under my belly. And the top! My goodness, I was able to stretch it just enough so it would cover my tummy. All in all, I am pretty proud of this closet-shopped outfit. And so is Baby. :)

This top makes me think of cotton candy-flavored popcorn. Not that I've ever had that particular flavor but I imagine that this is what it would look like. The sun is shining bright and hot and here is the outfit I chose to keep me and baby cool. Still rocking the non-maternity wear, knock on wood! The nice thing is, when it comes to shorts and jeans, I don't have a problem fitting into them because the waist on them sits so low already. They fasten right under my belly! Very handy. Tops are a little trickier. I don't mind stretching them over my tummy to fit, as long as they do not ride up and require constant adjusting. No problem with this little tank. Comfy, cool, and covers the belly. :) And speaking of cool, this hair-do is one of 2 standby hot-day hair fixes that I employ on warm days. Easy, bouncy, and off the neck!

So, normally what seems to happen is I get inspired by an outfit and paint my fingernails to match. Well that's not the case on this sunny summer Saturday! I painted my nails pink, white, and polka-dotted a few days ago. After seeing the happy polka dots on my fingertips for a couple days I got the hankering to wear my pink and white polka dotted PJs!
My fun little nails inspired not an outfit, but a pajama change-up! These jammies are one of my favorite sets of pajamas. And speaking of favorite, I am sporting my new favorite accessory as well! My baby bump! Also pictured, my favorite glass for drinking water.
This glass was a gift from my sister several years ago. Drinking water seems like less of a chore when it comes out of a happy little glass. :) A happy glass to go with happy jammies and nails.

This dress had me at hello. I bought it at a cute little boutique in Florida this past Spring. I fell in love with all the different colors and patterns. The skirt looks like 2-dozen unique silky scarves. At the time of purchase, I did not have a bun in the oven. But I was pleasantly surprised that this little number fits nicely right over the bump.
Not only does the fabric flow smoothly over my new belly, it is soft and comfortable. Comfy is a key word in my pregnancy vocab. Comfy with flair of course. :)

Well well well! I was going to post only this above photo when I came across this one (below) as I was scrolling. Same shirt, different belly! I have enjoyed wearing clothes that I can shop for in my closet even while pregnant. I hope I can keep squeezing into them for a few more months because not only is it fun, it is a major money saver. For the current pic, I've paired my Hollister stretchy tank with blue beads from Goodwill and my sparkly doughnut necklace.
In this pic it looks like I went for wrist candy instead of neck bling. But I was rocking my standard summer easy 'do even then: the side braid. This was about 1 year ago. Memories!

I have a new favorite accessory that I love so much, I wear it every day and will continue to do so until the end of the year! It's round, cute, and fun to dress! My baby bump! This is truly the one style-changer that money can't buy and it is simply the best. I love a challenge, and boy (or girl) it has been quite the feat (now I'm picturing little baby feet) working with my non-pregnant wardrobe. But I'm making it work! With a little creativity, 'smoke in mirrors' (aka wearing layers), and embracing my changing shape, I am having a ball styling my little belly! The outfit in this picture is one that I bought in 2012 and I had never worn it until now. Believe it or not, I was a little self-conscious about the skirt looking too tight on my butt! And that was two years ago! But now that I'm pregnant and things are popping out that have never popped out before (belly, booty, boobs), I feel like showing it off instead of hiding it. Bring on the tightness! My clothes are just going to keep on getting tighter anyway. :)

What is more summery than watermelon? I'll tell you what--a watermelon manicure! I painted on these 10 little melons yesterday and it is just like having juicy little fruit candies on each finger tip. Not only does having watermelon fingernails make me crave real watermelon slices, it also makes me want those Sour Patch Watermelon chews. I LOVE those things.
To create these watermelon nails, I first painted my nails in "24/7" by Sinful Colors. Then I painted a white stripe across the cuticle area to make the green pop. The green is "Kiwi Cool-Ada" by China Glaze. And for the seeds, I dipped the end of a bobby pin into "Black on Black" by Sinful Colors and dotted the tiny seeds on. I topped it all off with a coat of Sally Hansen super-shiny strengthening top coat. I have to go eat some watermelon now. :)

Summer is finally here! How do I know for sure? Because it's warm enough to wear my favorite 4-tiered billowy top! This fluffy little cami reminds me of the Sesame Street trash can my sister and I had in our room growing up--colorful, multi-patterned, and fun! This top is about 4 years old though, so not nearly as old as that cute garbage can from yesteryear.
I think these ankle bling sandals are just the ticket when it comes to balancing out all the pops of color in the top by bringing some much-needed color to my tootsies. And, the chains and ribbons around the ankle repeat the bling factor of my jewel-tone cuff! This is indeed my happiest summer outfit. I think the folks at Sesame Street would approve. :)

Yippy! Friday is finally here! Today would be perfect if only there wasn't a fresh dusting of white stuff on the ground! But there's nothing I can do about that...All I can do is dress accordingly! I am wearing an off-the-shoulder top from Blue Fly that usually spends most of its time nestled in my drawer. The reason for this is that I can't stand the feeling of fabric falling off my shoulder! It's unnatural to me. Yet, I like how the shirt looks and I don't want it to go to waste. Enter my black and white flannel! Not only does this little guy warm up this off-the-shoulder top but it also aids in keeping it from constantly sliding off my shoulder! My favorite part of this ensemble is this hot pink chain scarf.
I like how it repeats the pink curve in my shirt, both in shape and color.
And for the final pop of pink, I have Flashy Fushia (Sally Hansen) polish on my nails. What white stuff? ;)

Happy Hump Day! I'm always glad when we make it to Wednesday. It means we made it through Monday. And Tuesday. Sometimes Monday and Tuesday together seem like one long, giant, Monday. For today's closet shopping I was really feeling baby pink. The color of this sweater gave me a little extra spring in my step which was much needed, as today is another white-skied and chilly April day. I was heading out for errands this morning and needed a little jacket so I added my camo jackie. I LOVE adding camo to girly colors like pink. And what I LOVE even more is adding girly accessories to camo! Take a look at this next pic!
I added my multi-color/shimmer scarf and my beloved pink flower pin! Now this is girly! With just a tiny bit of an edge from the camouflage...
I love this pin. I bought it at a consignment furniture shop of all places. I went there looking for a chair and left with this pin and 3 cupcake aprons! I knew I had to buy this sparkly little pin. At the time, I thought it would just look pretty in my jewelry box (which I was perfectly ok with). But now! It has purpose! It plays a very important role in girlifying this camo jacket. :)

What a great way to celebrate the end of tax season! Well, perhaps we should celebrate the beginning of a new season--Spring! True, it's April 15 and it's only 30 degrees outside. But the sun feels like Spring sun and the stars at night look like Spring stars. Today's outfit is layered and fun, with years of age differences between some of the pieces! This coral pink starry sweater is from Target (2012) and, while I'd prefer not to cover it with a jacket, this crispy Spring weather is forcing me to. But that's okay because it means I can wear this 'used' cinch-waist Gap camel jacket (Cinderella's Closet, 2011). I think the camel and pink make a cool combo. The pink helps the camel to not take itself so seriously. :) And the camel echoes the goldish bursts of color in my embroidered and patched Coogi jeans (consignment,2011). And no outfit is complete without...accessories! I popped on my multicolor/shimmery scarf from Urban outfitters (2005), old silver hoops from 100 years ago, and some wrist candy mostly from Goodwill. :)
Monday, April 14, 2014
Just look at that bright burst of Spring popping through the window! Ok, I may have punched up the green factor in this pic but only to make the tree look the way it should look this time of year. ;) I was really feeling black this morning. No, I was not in a dark mood but in the mood for dressing dark! I grabbed this silky little top from Delia's, threw a Calvin Klein black cami underneath it, and popped on my black Target leggings. My feet also wanted to be invited to this dressing-dark party so I put on my black cowgirl boots. I figured this outfit could use some bling so I slung my gold-chained purse over my shoulder and called it good. Classic black and gold. How can you go wrong.

Old, older, and oldest! There are oodles of oldies in this closet shopping outfit. I bought the sparkly minty teal belt at Goodwill a couple years ago, the emerald/teal silk cami was 'used' but with the tags still on it, and the beadwork cardigan is from a vintage shop that I visited back in 1999!
The only new pieces are the white cami, the black stonewashed jeggings, and the cowgirl boots. I like pairing the 'now' stonewashed jeggings and cowgirl boots with the 'then' cardigan (I'm guessing this puppy is from the 1960s). Age is just a number, especially when it comes to clothes. :)

Pink, purple, and a side ponytail are a recipe for happiness--at least in my book. Today is another overcast, chilly-ish April day so I felt it was imperative to wear some happy colors to make up for the lack of sun. This little top is borderline cropped so I put on an extra cami underneath to give it a tad bit more length. Then I bundled up with a long skinny cardigan and my black cowgirl boots. Easy as pink n' purple pie. :)

I am so PUMPED about today's closet shopping outfit! I bought these boots 2 weeks ago and thought that I would have to buy something new to wear them with. Turns out, I already had the perfect outfit to go with the boots and never had the right footwear to wear with it! This is incredible. Just incredible! But here's the really sweet thing about these boots: they are Charles David leather/suede brand new, never-been-worn knee-high boots...that retail for $500! That's not the good news. The good news is that I got them for 20 bucks at Goodwill! When my girlfriend told the cashier that together she and I had just picked up over $1000-worth of clothes and shoes (my friend bought a $400 Nanette Lapore jacket for $8) the cashier looked as though she had just seen two frugal fashionista ghosts!
I always say the outfit is in the details so here are the main players. Along with my H&M leggings and Miss Me top, I also wore a blush/grey bamboo scarf (pre-owned, $10), ginormous hoop earrings (Goodwill, $3), and my blush-colored pleather ruffle jackie (Target, $30). This jacket and these boots go hand in hand! Or, should I say 'cuff in foot'...:)
You can check out my "How To Look Rich on a Goodwill Budget" video and my style philosophy thoughts here.
