Step right up to a super yummy and colorful breakfast! My mom had brought some 'power oranges' over and man those things are tasty! It tastes like part grapefruit, part sweet orange. A delicious combo indeed! And do you see the rich color it has? Gorgeous! The orange is definitely the star of this meal but also on the plate are: eggs with ham, half an apple, and some gluten free toast. All surrounded by hearts of course. ;)

Days like this I wonder why I don't have more yellow in my life! And I never would have thought I'd have a happy little yellow scarf wrapped around my neck either. And I bet this once-upon-a-time tee shirt never thought it would be sliced, diced, and sewn into a scarf! ;)
Yep, this little monkey used to be a tee shirt at Salvation Army. I saw it on the rack, saw the black wings and sparkles on it, and knew that I could make it into something else. And voila! I sliced it up, sewed some rainbow-colored cheetah ribbon to the edges and bam! It makes a cute infinity scarf.
And how about how it totally livened up this oh-so-boring outfit! There was no way I was going to go out in this ensemble the way it looks in pic 1 or 2. I'd rather watch bananas turn brown! I had a vision of yellow and remembered that this lil scarf was still upstairs with my sewing machine! All alone and forgotten!
But not as lonely as it was when it was living at Salvation Army, hanging out with tee shirts that had no dreams and no sense of adventure.
I love that there's silver shimmer, rhinestones, and wings all wrapped up in one scarf!
The wrist candy made for the cream on the banana cream pie of an outfit! What could be better than yellow but another dash of yellow! :)

Peek-a-boo! Who's under that towel? It's me! With a head full of sloppy, gloppy goo! My niece sent me a Pinterest pin about this egg/coconut oil hair mask and I decided to give it a whirl. I love eggs, love coconut oil, and love shiny hair. Why not?
I grabbed 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, and 1/2 C of water and whisked them up.
I had melted the coconut oil in the microwave, but when mixed with the cool egg it instantly started to solidify and produced teeny tiny oil chunks throughout the mixture. Plus, the coconut oil has a slightly sweet scent and that made my egg mask concoction smell quite unpleasant. Once I got it all absorbed into my hair and secured underneath a towel, the stink became a distant memory.
Today's hair day was totally decent. I'm not sure if all the credit goes to the egg mask, for I did use my good-hair-day-in-a-bottle shampoo Wella Brilliance. But let's just say it was the mask. :)

Summer isn't here. I can't make summer get here sooner. But I can trick my mouth into thinking it's summer! Thank goodness for blueberries. There's no berry that's more summery than the Great Blueberry. So I figured some blueberry shortcake was in order. I shall turn on all the lights, turn the temp in the house wayyy up, and listen to tropical salsa music, all while eating this lovely summery treat. Time to keep calm and eat shortcake. :)

It is time, once again, to winterize yet another outfit. This -25 degree weather doesn't look like it's going anywhere anytime soon so I'm throwing in the towel (or scarf) and surrendering to Old Man Winter. I really don't have an expansive wardrobe in general or an expansive winter wardrobe in particular, so I've been taking quite a few summer pieces and warming them up with sweaters and layers.
Brrr! I am getting chilly just looking at pic #1! Heart sweater to the rescue in pic #2! Now my neck needs some bundling...enter sparkly pink scarf in pic #3! No, it's not a winter scarf but it is a hot pink scarf and it'll do the job of warming my neck. I'm not done! Time to warm the core with my faux fur super-snuggly grey vest. I love this thing! I bought it for myself for Christmas 1 year ago and have dealt with some hefty guilt ever since because of the price...But not anymore! Not since I've been wearing it a ton this winter! Money well spent. This furry baby happily warms up many outfits. :)

|black dress~H&M 2014|
jean jacket~DKNY 2003
black tank~Urban Outfitters 2000-something
black leggings~H&M 2014
Underneath I wore a black sparkly tank from Urban Outfitters, funky new 'vinyl' leggings from H&M, my DKNY black jean jacket, and my faux crocodile black boots! I must say I am delighted with the results, considering I wasn't sure where to start this morning. Adding a messy topknot and big hoop earrings, along with the collar turned up on the jean jacket, gives this outfit a more playful look. I think without the aforementioned items it would look a bit too formal. ;)
Way to go, H&M! I'm pretty sure H&M stands for 'happy and magical'. :)

If it ain't broke, don't switch it! I did something I'm not proud of--I cheated on my mascara. With its cousin! That's right. For over a year now I've been using Jordana Best Lash Extreme mascara and have been loving it. Then one day at Walgreens I saw its cute little relative Jordana Volume Extreme sitting right next to it. It was so cute in its neon green and black tube, with its slightly plumper shape. Before I knew it, it was going for a ride to the checkout in my shopping basket! We got home, I opened it up, and immediately applied it to my lashes. What happened next surprised us both. It was a total bust! The new mascara had zero chemistry with my eyelashes. They literally fell flat! Plus it looked as though I had not even put any mascara on. My eyes looked dull and tired and completely mascara-less.
This is what I get for being impulsive. There was nothing wrong with my original Jordana Best Lash Extreme mascara. It had everything right with it! Rich black color, thickening and volumizing formula, and the ability to hold a curl. The above pic is the ultimate proof. On the left is my sad set of eyes with the disappointing Volume Extreme (more like Volume Extremely Lacking) and on the right (and taken the next day after I had gone back and exchanged the mascara for the original) is a pic of my eyelashes displaying the lovely, luscious original Best Lash Extreme mascara. Also on display is my suddenly-morphed amber-colored skin tone! He he he. Ah the power of filters. :) But even the filter on the left couldn't help the sad state of my lashes with the volume-lacking mascara. Lesson learned!

The picture of happiness. A Barbie pink layer cake with sparkly pink sprinkles on top! This was so much fun to make. And Mr. Man had so much fun eating it for his lunch dessert at work. :)
Triple Cs! Chocolate chip cookies. Nothing turns me into Cookie Monster more than these classic cookies. In a perfect world, I'd eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and dessert.
Mmm, the smell of cinnamon rolls wafting from the oven, with a fire in the fireplace, playing Skip-Bo with the one I love. That is a perfect night to me. And, this all happened last night. I made these yummy-in-the-tummy cinnamon rolls as a surprise for Mr. Man. I even had him mask his eyes and cover his ears so he wouldn't see or hear the rolling pin. Luckily for me, he fell asleep on the couch and dozed throughout the entire dough-making process. When he awoke, Gilmore Girls was on the tube and I had snuck out for a walk while my buns raised. ;) By the time I got back, the biscuits were ready to go into the oven. Tonight, we are doing a repeat of last night--fire in the fireplace, Skip-Bo, cinnamon rolls. Only this time it's pepperoni pizza and chocolate malts for dinner with cinnamon rolls for dessert. And instead of Gilmore Girls it's my guilty pleasure show Real Housewives of Miami. The icing on the roll. :)
As much as I try I just can't shake this addiction to all things 'heart'! Ok, you got me--I don't wanna shake this addiction and I've never tried! Anything that's heart-related is good for me. And what's good for the heart is finding happiness in simple pleasures! I prepared this cute little lunch today and had an impromptu photo shoot because of its effortless cuteness. All these heart pieces just fell into place. The heart plate, heart glass, and heart place mat (a dish towel in disguise) are all from Target. Sweetness abounds! And let's not forget the food! That is a super-yummy chicken salad wrap, gala apple, and my favorite potato chip in the world--Rachel's Salt and Vinegar! My tongue is tingling from the vinegar just thinking about it...And then there's my BFF M&M! I have chocolate after every meal. The only thing that's better than sweet treats is when they're presented in fun dishes. This is a little pinch bowl (about 1/4 Cup size) from a rainbow-colored set of 6. I have the blue pinch bowl full of M&Ms next to my computer as I type. So addicting. Plus, I think they make me write better. :)

Ah the month of February! I love this month for 3 reasons:
1. We made it through January.
2. We've almost made it to March.
3. Valentine's Day is smack in the middle!
That's right! Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays because it embodies all of life's wonderful things; pink, hearts, love, and--most importantly--candy! My niece and I had a slumber party this weekend and we gave ourselves some Valentine-inspired manicures.
|Fing'rs glitter pot|
Though I'm not a big fan of the taste of conversation hearts, I sure love all the colors! And the quotes!
I could just eat these candy-coated nails. With the sparkle speckles on my nails, it makes me think of Easter-time robins' egg malted milk candies. Oh boy! Another sweet-filled holiday 'round the bend...
My niece decided to work from the colors in her new scarf and created this fun, poppy look. Sweet!
I'll never stop saying it: matching itty-bitty details like nail color to scarves or even socks can make a HUGE difference in an outfit's fun factor.
Another happy Valentine's Day has come and gone but our sweet candy manis live on! :)

I've never thought there was anything boring about the color red. But when I first pulled this red wool sweater over my long-sleeved black tee, I felt instantly dull. The black tee on its own looked more exciting! I knew right away that some serious accessorizing was in order. I added my houndstooth belt with cherry hearts and my black and white star scarf and poof! It transformed this 'safe' combo into a delectable star-filled and cherryful outfit! Never underestimate the power of a couple accessories. If I had worn this outfit the way it looks in picture #1, I would have felt dowdy and low-energy all day. But because I added the fun belt and scarf, I felt happy, cute, and peppy all day! Even bright red needs some help from its friends from time to time. :)

Thank goodness I have a new indoor hobby while there's winter going on outdoors. It's sewing! Where has this fabulous machine been all my life? I used to sew clothes for my Barbies and make scrunchies for my hair back when I was a youngster. For some reason I took a couple decades off from sewing but now I'm back! And I've made myself a cute little hot pink wristband bracelet. I bought a girls' top at Goodwill, cut off the arm, measured my wrist, and sewed this little custom cottony bling band. I found this sparkly hot pink ribbon at Walmart. I had to have my pop of shimmer somewhere! Now, to sew a matching headband, fingerless gloves, and legwarmers...;)

There's no one named Mr. Green Jeans here but there is one little lady with green socks and green fingernails! And not just your run-of-the-mill basic green either. No way. We are talking hot green, 1st cousin to neon green, in-your-face happy green! I decided if I'm going to be wearing an all-black outfit I better add some pops of color to bring up the energy, seeing as how it is winter and I'm usually not a fan of wearing black in the colder months.
This outfit is totally closet-shopped. I bought this black sweater 4 years ago, the black jeggings 2 years ago, the black boots 5 years ago, and the neon zebra tank under my sweater (that you can't see) was the little 'free' cami that came with a grey cotton top I purchased in 2010! Yay! But you know why this outfit feels new? It's the green nails and socks! The polish is "Kiwi Cool-ada" by China Glaze. The socks are actually skiing socks (perfect for peeking out of the tops of boots) by Smart Wool. Together, they added the perfect amount of kiwi-flavored punch this outfit needed.
This is the same studded bracelet I wear all the time. I like pairing it with my super-girly charm bracelet. I wear this bracelet every time (unless I forget...) I'm going to see my sweet little niece. She loves this bracelet and checks my wrist first thing every time we meet. :)

I did it. I fell victim to all the hype that has been swirling around the Beauty Blender. And I'm sorry to say I find it to be more of a Beauty Blunder. First of all, for a dinky little make-up sponge that's no bigger than a fun-size Snickers bar and costs $20, you'd think the brains at Beauty Blender could have at least packaged the thing in a quality canister. But no. This hot pink little egg-shaped sponge comes in a flimsy, crackable, poorly-made container. Lame! I was not too impressed with this first impression. And as for application, am I missing something? I've heard and read tens of beauty bloggers raving about this little thing. I followed the instructions--wet the BB, squeezed it into a towel, dipped it into foundation and 'bounced' it all over my face. No good. And here are the reasons why:
1. The 'bounce' technique took forEVER. I wanted desperately to start rubbing it all over my face and blend, blend away.
2. The wet sponge drank up 90% of the foundation that was on it. That is not cool, foundation is expensive! I did not pay $38 for a 1-ounce tube of make-up only for it to be slurped up to death by a hot pink eggheaded sponge!
3. My trusty $8 make-up sponge from Walgreens still kicks the Beauty Blender's little tush. I don't have to do any bouncing and am free to blend till my heart's content. I don't have to wet it before making up my face. And the Walgreens sponge is $12 less than the hyped-up 'high-end' (as if) make-up blender and it's a prettier shade of pink!
So there. It is not often I fall prey to pricey trends but I guess there's a first time for everything. I'd feel worse if I hadn't had a Sephora gift card to pay for the overrated egghead.

It's time to turn this saggy-bottom outfit upside down! I was planning on wearing this all day. I had settled in by the fireplace with my laptop, my M&Ms, and the brainstorm that was soon to be blowing in. Look how happy I was in my comfy, cozy outfit. How do you like that scrunchie? I will be a life-long fan of The Scrunchie. So soft, so easy on the locks.
Every time I wear these ancient sweatpants my husband calls me his "saggy bottom girl." I think it's a song...? Anyway, he gets a good chuckle every time I wear these, which is quite often I must admit.
You'll see his reason for his "saggy bottom" remark here. Yikes! But I don't care! The only people who see my butt in these ratty old things are my hubby and my kitty. Ain't no one to impress here! ;) I'm actually holding them up a little in this photo because the waist band is so stretched out. It's only 7 years old. They sure don't make waist bands the way they used to.
But back to the point of this post. Just as I was curled up in my chair and hunkering down to do some writing, I remembered that I had an appointment! And I had to leave in 15 minutes. I didn't have time to whip up a whole new outfit. I still had to throw on some make-up and run a comb through my hair! And start my car, fill my water bottle, grab a snack, find my outgoing mail to pop in the mailbox and so on. So I did the only thing I knew to do at the time--I put on my snuggly 'new' grey sweater from Target and instantly winterized this summery top. Then, much to my chagrin, I had to change out of my sweats and put on some jeans. So crunchy when you've just been enjoying some soft and worn out comfy pants.
I added some neon wrist candy and a neon yellow belt to tie in the neon braided neckline of the top.
Then I threw on my super-soft teddy bear hoodie, my good old grey boots, slung my brown pleather bag over my shoulder and was out the door! It is possible to turn a 'no one will see me today' outfit into an ensemble that is appropriate for public viewing and makes you feel perkier! And under 15 minutes! I'm just glad I had already showered...

black cami~Urban Outfitters (2008)
nail polish~"Fig", Sinful Colors
I grabbed this lacy tunic, put a black cami with sparkles on the neckline underneath it, added my black sparkly sweater leggings, and, of course, my grey boots.
I couldn't stop there. I had to winterize this look. I popped on my little black mini cardi and instantly felt cozier.
My sweet little scarf! It loves to be snuggled!
I grabbed my little grey/black jackie from Target (2012) and was out the door!
But not without saying goodbye to my matching purple sparkly owl! Hoot! Hoot!

I honestly didn't know if I would ever be donning this cute little baby pink silk cami ever again. I bought it from Victoria's Secret online in 2006, along with a matching brown wrap-around sweater. I wore those two pieces together for years. Then, in 2011, I got rid of the sweater. I felt as though it had run its course. I couldn't let go of the cami though because it's so doggone sweet. And I have a minty sage green one just like it and I didn't want it to be lonely without its pink cousin hanging next to it in the closet. Anyway, the other week I was at Goodwill and spotted this little shrug-like sweater on a mannequin. I asked the mannequin to move her hair out of the way so I could check the tag for the size. Sure enough, it was my size. And it goes beautifully with this little cami! The sweater has some beaded sparkle detail, as does the camisole. The final touch to today's look was adding these two sparkly bangles.
I'm so pumped that an unexpected find from Goodwill is bringing my 7-year-old silky cami back to life! Lucky number 7 I guess. :)
